Raymond E. Johnstone writes at the edges—of genre, history, and reality... and perhaps sanity.

A former nomad who has slept behind a Marie Calendar's dumpster (or two) and a veteran of the armed forces, as well as a veteran of the book convention circuit, Raymond spent a few years marketing merchandise for literary legends (shh ... can't say who).

 

After the fanfare and the freight trucks faded, he rediscovered his first love: storytelling.

His fiction blends gothic horror, science fiction, and mythology, echoing through haunted plantations, hidden bunkers, and the cracks between worlds. Whether exploring posthuman conspiracies in Black Site: Dugway or the ghosts of antebellum Charleston, Raymond's work is rooted in memory, identity, and what it means to survive the abyss.

With a background in English and Anthropology, Raymond’s narratives dig deep, literarily speaking. His characters are haunted not only by what they've lost, but by what they've become. He’s also written award-winning screenplays with a longtime collaborator, and his stories have been optioned, adapted, and shouted over drinks in bars lit by neon UFOs and electric cowboys.

When not writing, he’s probably chasing storms in the desert, eating pastries in Paris, researching lost civilizations in the Middle East, or trying to figure out if the government really did bury something in 1968.
